What is a FAQ?
A FAQ is a Frequently Asked Question. Questions that we receive from multiple people will be placed here to attempt to assist others with the same question.
What are categories?
The categories information refers to the Ohio Board of Nursing's classification of certain kinds of continuing education for nurses and licensed and dialysis technicians with certificates in Ohio. It does not refer to any other nurse.
Category A refers to that education which Ohio nurses must obtain during each licensing period that is directly related to the Ohio nursing law (Ohio Revised Code 4723) and rules (Ohio Administrative Code 4723). Every nurse and dialysis technician must obtain one contact hour of CE directly related to the law and rules governing nursing practice in Ohio. See those activities marked Category A in the listing to see which one(s) you might be interested in reviewing.
Category B refers to the additional CE that clinical nurse specialists who are not certified must receive in addition to the 24 contact hours required for license renewal. This education must relate to the CNS's specialty.
Category C refers to the CE that dialysis technicians must receive in order to renew their certificate every two years with the OBN.
Category D refers to the CE that advanced practice nurses with prescriptive authority must have in addition to their 24 contact hours needed to renew their license. This information must relate to prescriptive authority.
